Advance DMS folder capabilities added to LawPort

New capability to improve publication workflow

(Vancouver, Canada – October 29, 2010) SydneyPLUS LawPort, foremost provider of KM SharePoint Portal solutions to top law firms, has just announced that it will be releasing a new set of workflow enhancements that advance the DMS management capabilities of LawPort 5 for SharePoint.  Slated for deployment as part of LawPort 5.0.1’s standard enhancement package, it is scheduled for release in the 1st Quarter of 2011.  As part of its popular service value offering, SydneyPLUS LawPort delivers a software maintenance program of regularly scheduled updates that ensure an organization’s initial software investment will stay current with industry trends.

The LawPort DMS Folder Management capability for LawPort 5 is aimed at speeding publication workflows as well as making finding information easier than ever and encouraging collaboration among its users.  LawPort 5 has always provided a simple and efficient mechanism for publishing and delivering documents to the desktops of relevant all users.

The new DMS Folder Management now allows publishers to group and label documents together via folders providing publication administrators with an organizational mechanism to better manager the contents of a DMS.  By applying a folder classification structure, users will benefit from the convenience of easily finding associated documents in what could be an otherwise complex DMS environment while at the same time the firm will benefit with improved collaboration within practice group personnel.  In short now users can,

§         Find relevant documents faster

§         Impel support for work group collaboration

§         Categorize and calibrate DMS document structures for improved access

The process will be simple to apply:  For example, a practice group working on a case could publish a folder labeled by matter number and then store all relevant documents in it.  Now the matter will have a “working area” in the DMS.  When the whole folder is published through LawPort, it will be distributed with security to the correct personnel or organizational unit, making the folder visible to all relevant parties.  From this point forward, regardless from where new documents are published, this sharing mechanism will ensure users that all relevant documents will always be grouped and available together within the same appropriately labeled folder: This in turn will simplify workflow and further encourage collaboration among the group.
