(Vancouver, Canada - October 30, 2009) SydneyPLUS LawPort, prominent supplier of knowledge management software for the legal industry is earning applause in demonstrations of LawPort 5, its new SharePoint for Legal portal product. Released in August 2009 at the International Legal Technology Association (ILTA) conference, LawPort 5 demonstrations showing the full release of the SharePoint 2007 platform are now being offered to clients and prospects.
"Demonstrations are being well-received," says Marcus Liban, Account Manager, "but don't take my word for it, listen to the feedback from one of our clients." During a recent demonstration, one client remarked, "...is this where we can applaud now?"
There is reason for applause because LawPort 5 focuses on four value propositions important to law firms such as the NLJ 250:
Legal Object Model (LOM) provides a framework for the intranet, a structure representing Practice Groups, Departments, Offices, Staff, Clients, Matters, and the Firm. Whereas SharePoint does not provide a schema for law firms, the Legal Object Model provides it out of the box.
LawPort Web Parts, particularly the configurable LawPort Query Web Part, which shows a simple to use interface enabling KM staff, librarians, and IT staff to search and display any table or field making up the LawPort SQL database.
Publishing Center showcases our manager-level portal for supervising all content being created, distributed, secured, and categorized throughout the intranet and extranet. With advanced searching, saved searches, a "my favorites list," RSS feed generation, etc. the Publishing Center monitors the flow of content throughout the intranet and alerts managers to the need to update particular pages thereby eliminating stale content lacking relevance.
Knowledge Management Builder (kmBuilder) is LawPort's user interface for modifying the database structure. It allows staff with minimal training to create any form for capturing knowledge, entering data to match workflow, and provides the ability to customize LawPort.
LawPort 5 can integrate with an existing intranet, or the LawPort Implementation Team can work with clients to create a new intranet, making this solution available to any client or prospect pursuing SharePoint 2007, MOSS, or WSS as a platform.
